GeneSight® Testing Psychiatric Medication Management
Personalized care. Guided by your genetics
-
GeneSight® is a pharmacogenomic test that helps personalize psychiatric medication selection. By analyzing how your genes affect medication metabolism and response, GeneSight® provides actionable insights to guide treatment for conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other mental health disorders.
This testing is designed to reduce trial-and-error prescribing and support more informed, efficient medication decisions.
-
GeneSight® uses a simple cheek swab collected in the clinic. The sample is analyzed to evaluate genetic variants involved in medication metabolism and pharmacodynamic response. Results are presented in a clear, color-coded report that categorizes medications based on predicted gene–drug interactions.
-
GeneSight® may be helpful if you have:
Had inadequate response to one or more psychiatric medications
Experienced significant side effects from psychiatric medications
Required multiple medication trials or dose adjustments
A personal or family history of medication sensitivity
-
GeneSight® results help your provider:
Identify medications that may be better tolerated
Highlight medications that may require dose adjustments
Flag medications with increased risk of side effects or reduced efficacy
Support shared decision-making for treatment planning
Results do not diagnose mental health conditions and do not replace clinical judgment. They are one tool used alongside clinical history and symptoms.
-
GeneSight® testing may inform medication management for:
Depression
Anxiety disorders
Bipolar disorder
ADHD
PTSD
OCD
-
GeneSight® is covered by many insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Most patients pay little to no out-of-pocket cost, and the testing company provides financial assistance options when needed
Most patients pay $330 or less*
